Falls are the most frequent and serious type of accident for people aged over 65. Falls can lead to a loss of confidence, reduced independence, increased isolation and can cause long-term health problems.

A fall is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Falling is not an inevitable part of aging and many falls are preventable. It is important that you know what to do to reduce your risk of a fall. Always tell someone close to you if you have had a fall, even if you have not been injured.

NHS Surrey Downs CCG have been working in partnership with Surrey County Council, Epsom and Ewell Borough Council, Mole Valley District Council, Elmbridge Borough Council, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council and Surrey Downs Health & Care to produce the Surrey Downs Falls Prevention Pack.
The pack provides lots of useful advice on how to prevent a fall, along with information about local services available to support you and keep you living independently in the community.

A copy of the falls pack is available in a digital format below. A hard copy can be obtained through your District and Borough Council, by contacting NHS Surrey Downs or through your GP surgery.
